ESPC (Energy Savings Performance Contracting) or simply, Performance Contracting, is a way to reduce energy use and cost, renew facilities and building systems without expending capital funds. Under an Energy Savings Performance Contract, an energy services company such as Greenverse Energy Group (GEG) pays costs involved in identifying, installing, operating and maintaining new and upgraded energy-efficient equipment. GEG is compensated by receiving a share of the cost savings resulting from these improvements over a set term. At the end of the Energy Savings Performance Contract, the Customer owns the improvements and receives the continuing savings.

Under a shared savings performance contract, an energy services company such as Greenverse Energy Group pays costs involved in identifying, installing, operating and maintaining new and upgraded energy-efficient equipment. GEG is compensated by receiving a share of the cost savings resulting form these improvements over a set term. At the end of the contract term, the customer owns the improvements and receives the continuing savings.
The concept is best illustrated by the chart above. Before the performance contract, the customer pays their full utility bill. During the contract, the customer achieves savings through energy improvements and pays a portion of those savings to GEG. At the end of the contract term, the customer receives all the savings, enjoying reduced energy costs for the life of the equipment.
